وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا الشمس [1]
By the sun and its brightness Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [1]
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا الشمس [2]
And [by] the moon when it follows it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [2]
وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا الشمس [3]
And [by] the day when it displays it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [3]
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا الشمس [4]
And [by] the night when it covers it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [4]
وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا الشمس [5]
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [5]
وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا الشمس [6]
And [by] the earth and He who spread it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [6]
وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا الشمس [7]
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [7]
فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا الشمس [8]
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [8]
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّاهَا الشمس [9]
He has succeeded who purifies it, Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [9]
وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّاهَا الشمس [10]
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [10]
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا الشمس [11]
Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [11]
إِذِ انبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا الشمس [12]
When the most wretched of them was sent forth. Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [12]
فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا الشمس [13]
And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [13]
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا الشمس [14]
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [14]
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا الشمس [15]
And He does not fear the consequence thereof. Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) [15]
